How can I take part in studies?

First of all, you need to become a Sense:bud by registering via the following link: Click here

You will be asked to complete a ‘joiner survey’. The answers you provide to these questions will help us identify relevant studies to invite you to.


How will I be contacted about upcoming studies?

Normally, we send out invitations by email from survey@sensebuds.co.uk.


Can I change my details?

Once signed up, you will be provided with log on details to your own personal Sense:bud Dashboard where you can update your contact details and update your joiner survey information to ensure that you are invited to the studies most relevant to you. The dashboard can be found here:

What type of studies can I take part in?

Shopper – You are invited along to a mock-up shop, including aisles and tills. You complete a shop based on your normal habits and then are asked about certain aspects of your experience.

Face-to-face – You are invited to test a product in our specially designed sensory booths at the Sense:Lab facility in Killingbeck, Leeds, and provide your feedback regarding certain aspects of that product. The interviews themselves may be carried out by one of our trained interviewers or you may be asked to self-complete a survey on a tablet.

Home Test – A product will be delivered to your home to use for a certain amount of time then feedback your opinions based on that usage, via an online survey.

Focus Groups – You will be invited, along with a small group of other consumers, to give in-depth opinions and views, to our trained moderators.

Online Surveys – You would be sent a survey by email to complete at your own leisure.


I no longer want to take part in research, how can I be removed from the panel?

You can leave the panel at any time. The best way to do this is via the Accounts section on your own personal Sense:bud Dashboard: https://panels.blueyonder.agency/newdesign/site/blueyonder/memberlogin.php?returnPage=memberdashboard.php

Alternatively, you can send us an email to info@sensebuds.co.uk requesting to be removed.


I do not live in the Leeds area; can I still Join the panel?

Absolutely! Although many of our face-to-face tests take place at the Sense:Lab in Killingbeck, Leeds, we also run many around the country as well as home studies across the rest of the UK and beyond.


Is there a limit to the number of studies I can take part in?

There are certain limits to the number of studies you can take part in but these limits change depending on the type of research taking place.


I have qualified for a study; how will I be booked onto it?

Normally, you will automatically be booked onto the study and you should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of completing the invitation survey. From time to time, we may need to call you first to check some additional information before confirming that you are eligible to take part.


I haven’t received a confirmation email?

If you haven’t received your confirmation email, email us at info@sensebuds.co.uk along with the study code.


It’s my first time visiting SenseBuds, what should I do when I turn up?

Just turn up! Our study host will meet you in reception and brief you on everything you need to know. We’ll let you know of any other specific requirements prior to arrival.


Will the products be delivered directly to me or will I need to collect them in person?

They will usually be delivered to you, however, for local Sense:buds, you may be required to pick them up from our facility.


Can I keep the products I test, or do I need to return them?

This depends on the study, so we will make sure you know what needs to be done with the test product before you take part. If you do need to return the products, we always provide you with the return label.


I am running late for my session; will I still be permitted to attend and who should I contact?

In the first instance, give us a call on 0113 2044 021 so we can check if you can still attend.


I am booked onto a study but can no longer attend the agreed time, am I able to reschedule and who should I contact?

We are normally able to rearrange appointments, please email info@sensebuds.co.uk along with your study code.


I am booked onto a study, but I need to cancel, who should I contact?

Either call us on 0113 2044 021 or email info@sensebuds.co.uk as soon as you can.


What form of incentive will I receive and are any other types of payment available?

All our incentives are issued digitally. Upon completion of a study, you will be sent an email with a link to follow. You have a choice of a bank transfer, Amazon gift card or PayPal transfer.


I am taking part in a test with different elements e.g. video diaries and surveys. I have not completed all the elements; will I still be entitled to the full incentive?

Only once all tasks have been completed for a study will you be entitled to the full incentive.


I was late to a group session and not permitted to take part, will I still receive an incentive?

Unfortunately not. You need to take part in the full group session to be entitled to the full incentive.


Who will have access to my information?

Don’t worry though, under no circumstances will your information be used for any other purpose than those specified to you. You definitely won’t be sold anything, your information will not be used for marketing purposes, and we certainly won’t pass your information onto other parties for this purpose either!


Will I be recorded, photographed, or filmed in my session and how will this data be used?

Not necessarily. If we would like to film you, we would always seek your informed consent before doing so.


I agreed to take part in a study but I’ve now changed my mind. Can I withdraw and will my data still be used?

You can withdraw from any study you are taking part in at any point at all and your data would then be removed too.


I do not agree to being recorded, photographed, or filmed; will I still be able to take part in the study?

You may still be able to take part but please do get in touch first to discuss. We’ll review on a case-by-case basis.


Is there parking at the Sense:Lab?

Yes, there is parking, however, when it is busy there is plenty of parking around the area which you can also use. You may also be taking part, in an external facility, we will always send you details prior to attendance.


Can I bring my child(ren) to the study with me?

Sense:buds don’t provide any childcare facilities so we recommend you do not bring children with you.


I clicked on the wrong option and now can’t continue, what do I do?

Give us a call on 0113 2044 021, and we can investigate.


How can I check that Sense:buds is a genuine market research agency?
