The Challenge:
Despite growing interest in healthier lifestyles, many people struggle to make healthy snacking choices throughout the day.
The barriers include limited availability, lack of trust in convenience store options, and the influence of timing and shopping habits. Understanding these real-world moments is essential to designing better interventions and offerings.
The Solution:
Using the patented Clickscape® wearable device, participants were prompted to click:
This in-the-moment data allowed for real-time tracking of emotional and behavioural responses, pinpointing exactly when and why healthy snacking opportunities were missed. The data was further explored through ClickView IDIs, enabling deeper qualitative insights.
The Result:
Over 4 healthy snacking opportunities were identified daily, with 1 in 4 going unmet, especially around lunch.
When healthy options weren’t available, people defaulted to convenient but unhealthy choices like chocolate and crisps. Fruit and vegetables were preferred but often unavailable without a recent shop. Convenience stores were distrusted, with supermarkets seen as more reliable. Participants wanted affordable, tasty, and convenient healthy snacks, though cost remained a barrier.
