The Challenge:
A leading personal care brand needed to assess and improve the shelf stability of its new roll-on deodorant packaging, ensuring it performed better than previous versions and key competitors.
The Solution:
We conducted a series of immersive shopper tests that replicated real retail environments. The consumers wore body cameras during the tests so we could closely follow their movements, allowing us to observe how they interacted with the packaging. By analysing behaviours such as product pick-up, shelf placement, and restocking actions, we identified the specific design factors that influenced pack stability.
The Result:
Through three iterative studies, we guided the client in selecting and refining a new pack design that was more stable than earlier versions, aligned with consumer preferences, and competitive on shelf. Our insights helped strike the right balance between stability and consumer appeal, ensuring functional improvement without compromising on portability or ease of use.
This shopper testing methodology offers actionable insights into how packaging performs in real-world settings. For clients, it means faster, smarter decisions on pack development; reducing risk, increasing on-shelf performance, and driving consumer preference.
